The Rough© Anorak

The Rough© Anorak

Our flagship model, The Rough© is the most sought-after wool anorak in the industry and was given its name because it was built for roughing it out in the wild. It’s made with our exclusively milled advanced performance wool, and weighs in at 650/700 gsm. We know that many people shy away from wool because it’s irritable to the skin and we understand, so we designed and milled this fabric to be softer to the touch, contrary to its name. Fabric: 95% wool/5% synthetic

Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

The benefits of wool:

- Antibacterial

- Hypoallergenic

- Water repellent

- Fire retardant

- Moisture wicking

- Silent

- Retains up to 80% of its insulating properties when wet

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Way too small

I ordered this for my son for Christmas. We carefully measured him and compared it to your chart before ordering and it should have easily fit him. When it arrived, he could barely get it over his chest and the sleeves were way too short. When he contacted the company to exchange it for a bigger size, they charged me another $118 US for “restocking” and upgrading the size. Poor customer service. I will not be ordering again.

Rough Anorak. Perfect winter hunting coat

Warm, water resistant, plenty of room for underlayers. The high neck gaiter is excellent at keeping the cold out when standing still or sitting in a high seat for extended periods. The large pocket on the front fits binos, ammunition, thermal spotter, pipe, knife, rope etc easily.
Because it is wool it is completely silent when moving through woodland and brush. The coloyr is ideal for uk woodland and scrub and doesn't darken to black when wet. Absolutely perfectly designed bit of kit.

great piece of clothing

I've only had it for a short time so i haven't run this coat through many variables but it seems to perform great so far. quality is great, cuts the wind well, insulates well. I have worn it around the freezing mark and a little below while doing some light activity. I only wore a thin merino wool long sleeve t-shirt for a base layer with the Anorak over top. It worked perfectly. I got the tall cut that adds a few inches to the sleeves and i think to the body length as well. it works great for me ( 6'3") and my wife has also stolen it and loves it as well. she just rolls up the sleeves a little and it wears like a long coat.

Stunning

Just received my Rough Anorak and it is incredible.

I ordered it straight up, sans trim embellishments, fur ruff, side slits, etc. I am 6' and 260 with a long torso and ordered a 3XL. Kind of at the edge of sleeve length, ordering 3" longer would have dwarfed my hands. Otherwise it fits a bit big over a turtleneck only, what was what I was looking for. As others have said, wool is remarkably soft.

If you are on the fence about ordering one, do yourself a favor and pull the trigger.
