The Rough© Anorak

The Rough© Anorak

Our flagship model, The Rough© is the most sought-after wool anorak in the industry and was given its name because it was built for roughing it out in the wild. It’s made with our exclusively milled advanced performance wool, and weighs in at 650/700 gsm. We know that many people shy away from wool because it’s irritable to the skin and we understand, so we designed and milled this fabric to be softer to the touch, contrary to its name. Fabric: 95% wool/5% synthetic

Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

The benefits of wool:

- Antibacterial

- Hypoallergenic

- Water repellent

- Fire retardant

- Moisture wicking

- Silent

- Retains up to 80% of its insulating properties when wet

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Stunning

Just received my Rough Anorak and it is incredible.

I ordered it straight up, sans trim embellishments, fur ruff, side slits, etc. I am 6' and 260 with a long torso and ordered a 3XL. Kind of at the edge of sleeve length, ordering 3" longer would have dwarfed my hands. Otherwise it fits a bit big over a turtleneck only, what was what I was looking for. As others have said, wool is remarkably soft.

If you are on the fence about ordering one, do yourself a favor and pull the trigger.

You would think growing up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains would make me better able to take the cold. Fortunately I was smart enough to get these. It's also a life saver when I'm working in freezers.

Great stuff!!!!

Heavy made and seems like it’s going to last a long long time. Also can’t believe how soft the wool is.

Magnificent

It's built perfectly. The very thick wool means it's very warm.

My only criticism is that I ordered the edge embellishment, and one small section wasn't stitched completely. Not a deal breaker, as it doesn't affect the functionality.

No regrets.

Doesn’t Display Country Of Origin

1 star because they are too afraid to say where their products are made so I assume China. If you’re too afraid to say that, I’m not even going to consider buying. There are other brands that are much more transparent. Hopefully it is listed on the product itself otherwise you are in violation of federal law requiring the origin of textiles to be listed. Maybe put this on your website in the future? Almost everyone else does (even if it is made in China.)

Hello, hopefully you can delete my review. I was just too blind to see that it says they are made in Canada.

My apologies

Hello D.A , Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, I can't delete your review, but I can hide it from our public reviews since we only post feedback from verified buyers. I hope you understand that reviews do impact our rating, and this one star rating does affect us, and we cannot undo that. In future please consider that before leaving reviews on products you especially have not purchased.
