The Rough© Anorak

The Rough© Anorak

Our flagship model, The Rough© is the most sought-after wool anorak in the industry and was given its name because it was built for roughing it out in the wild. It’s made with our exclusively milled advanced performance wool, and weighs in at 650/700 gsm. We know that many people shy away from wool because it’s irritable to the skin and we understand, so we designed and milled this fabric to be softer to the touch, contrary to its name. Fabric: 95% wool/5% synthetic

Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

The benefits of wool:

- Antibacterial

- Hypoallergenic

- Water repellent

- Fire retardant

- Moisture wicking

- Silent

- Retains up to 80% of its insulating properties when wet

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Quality

Excellent quality, top notch construction. Bought for hunting primarily, very quiet, warm, and versatile. Can really bunker up for when it's cold, or wear less underneath and not overheat. 10/10 would purchase again, highly recommend!

Super Warm

The fabric is super thick and fits well. Probably won't get to wear this much but will be glad to have it when I do.

Color is more TAN than GREEN as portrayed

Returning items to Canada costs you $165. They won’t cover it inspite of the misleading pictures.

Well made

Substantial bit of kit. It's well made and warm. I wore it with just a t-shirt underneath in 22 degree F weather, and was not cold at all. This will be fantastic for extended outdoor activities like our next hot tent camping trip. Thank you!

A blanket of fine fabrication to keep the cold cheap made outdoor "garments" away

As a buy once, last forever type gear head, I wasnt surprised after watching a ton of positive reviews that this anorak was going to hold its own. I've worn this only a hand full of times and can safely say it will hold up to Scotland's interchangeable weather and environment anyday of the colder months. One down side is I bought this in medium hoping it would fit under my large fjallraven anorak, but unfortunately is a wee bit big to use the hood properly. The hood is massive and you can't mould it to your head. However with this in mind, your head does feel safe as houses underneath it. If your an outdoors/wildcamp enthusiast and can afford the pretty reasonable, but high price generally, for this anorak, and as an international afford the unreasonable customs charges. I would definitely consider.
