The Manic Anorak©

The Manic Anorak©

The Manic Anorak© is our premium wind-sheltering system, going a step above the Arctic Anorak© with its added features. Firstly, we added a fur ruff to the design which, contrary to popular belief, is not simply aesthetic. Our fur-lined hood will effectively keep the cold away from your face and minimize the amount of heat that escapes. Each fur ruff is handpicked and finished by a furrier with over 60 years of experience. The accented, extra large pocket is equipped with a D-ring receiver and has ample room so you can perform tasks from inside the pocket, keeping your hands warm and away from the elements. Storm cuffs were also added to the sleeves for cinching as well as a flared sweep for increased mobility. Finally, sourced from the USA, our new Fall 2021 fabric is also water repellent. Available in 3 colors.

Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Must be a miracle

A single layer of canvas keeps you toasty warm at -40f. Sure it does. Then again when you spend $400+ on a canvas parka, you will look pretty sharp drinking your $10 latte at the mall. 60 years outdoor experience in Northern mn makes me a little skeptical. Sorry.

WOW

This anorak is a beautiful functional work of art.
When I purchased this I wanted something that I would keep forever. I am not sure forever would be long enough. Francesca made my Manic anorak with nothing but love every stich and proportion is perfect and the fur she selected it STUNNING.
As for sizing I did the suggested 2 sizes larger than my Loden and it's perfect I have a TON of room.

I can't gush enough.
