Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

New Arctic Anorak arrived

I just received my new 2XL Arctic Canvas Anorak here in Virginia. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but so far the piece looks great and will be trying it out in the Late season here in VA. The stitching doesn't have loose ends all over it like it was rushed to order. I had a hunt in western VA last week and I ordered it several weeks ago but due the the Postal Strike in Canada the Anorak arrived to my home while I was on the trip. It would have been great to have it on the trip but my Rough Anorak (XL), which I did have on the trip, sufficed. We had ~18deg F weather with high wind and it snowed the whole time but the Rough did great with little to no draft felt. Crazy how the wool didn't overheat me and breathed well when stalking/walking but kept me warm when stationary. I can only imagine the Arctic will be a regular carry item for when the weather really turns snotty. Not a lot of snow in Virginia but we do get really wet snow and rain which seemingly always freezes overnight and the Canvas will be great for an over-layer. I'm impressed how compactable the Arctic is which will be great for packing for hunts. I like the length which I can adjust with a gear belt if it is too long for the task at hand. The internal gear loops on top of the inside of the front pocket is really handy and is also on the Wool Anoraks and hugely helpful keeping gear secure.
The pockets are deep enough to keep gear from falling out easily but adding a couple of small carabiners to each loop is an easy addition. Looking forward to trying this out.

No zipper or button closure on the pocket, skirt was super long. Had to have it shortened by a seamstress.

Why can I only give 5 stars, this deserves 5000.

quality garment

Very well made, would have liked a heaver weight of canvas. That is my only gripe, overall it's a quality garment and has held up very well.

Arctic Rack becomes a four season garment

It’s summer in the north country so my The Arctic Anorak:copyright: made from the Buffalo Brown waxed canvas has not been tested by the winter winds yet. In the cool wet rain it has been great! Also I’ve worn it to keep the black flies and mosquitoes off. I love this fabric and the anorak. I tuck the hood visor in and my Arctic looks like the Wind Rack. This is a four season Anorak! Thanks!!
